Opening

Welcome everyone to another episode of 8 minutes of Eww! The place where we use curiosity and science to turn fear into fascination and those ewww’s into Oooo’s. Oh! By the way, I’m your host Ms. Mallory, the Curious Conservationist and self-proclaimed grosslologist. Let’s get started with your weekly dose of gross.

As the holidays near, we see some pretty strange flavor combinations start to appear as everyone tries to get into the holiday cheer. While some seem like a tasty treat others sound like tastebud torture. This week we will be doing things a little different; We will be dong a countdown! I will be naming off some of the craziest flavor combinations to ever hit the holiday spirit. From ketchup-flavored candy canes to pumpkin spice pringles, let’s see if you can stomach this grocery list.

Starting off the countdownt at number 6 is a flavor that many love, buy may not typically think to look outside the dinner table for. Turkey and dressing gum, anyone?  For those that may want to savor the flavor a little bit longer, you can chew on a gumball all evening long.  But if blowing turkey smelling bubbles isn’t your thing?  What about turkey flavor dorritos or mashed potatoes and gravy jellybeans?  Why slave over the oven when you can just pop open a bag and enjoy a mess free holiday meal. And if that still feels like too much work, you can opt for something a bit easier. Jones Soda Co. is the king of weird holiday flavors. From the traditional turkey and gravy flavor to Brussels sprouts, broccoli casserole and even wild herb stuffing, you could easily slurp down an entire, utterly disgusting holiday meal if you choose to.

5. Minty Milk

Coming in green at number 5 is a beverage possibly only the grinch could love. Nothing tastes better than a glass of milk while brushing your teeth right?  While may not be phased by green, thick liquid glugging out of their milk carton, you best believe you may be inviting the wrong guy down the chimney putting a glass of TRUMoo Mint Vanilla Milk beside the plate of cookies on Christmas Eve.   Craving something warm perhaps, you could a;ways cozy up with a warm cup of steaming Dr. Pepper.  Although I prefer my sodas with ice, the creators of the carbonated beverage pushed a major christmas campaign in 1966 sharing the 21 flavors soda could give hot cocoa a run for its money. . .I think not. Haha.

Number 4: Thanksgiving Candy Corn

Okay so maybe you could have done Minty Green Milk, but what about a candycorn mix of your favorite Thanksgiving flavers?  While Sweet potato cassorole or possibly spiced pumpkin pie would be pretty appealing, I am talking about the OTHER favorite flavors of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Coming in at number 4 is s a full course meal presented in a unique mix of candy corn flavors. BRACH’S Turkey Dinner includes all of the traditional Thanksgiving favorites. From roasted turkey, green beans and stuffing to ginger glazed carrots, cranberry sauce and sweet potato pie.

Number 3: Spiced Pumpkin Pie Pringles

Jumping in on the festive flavor train at number three, the company famous for its "once-you-pop-you-can't-stop" cans released a family of festive flavors for the holiday season in 2015.  Ranging from Spiced Pumpkin pie to salted caramel to even white and milk chocolate flavers.  I am a big fan of all of those, but not sure on a chip. Pretty sure with one of those flavors, I might definitely stop. Haha.

2: Tuna-Jello Cassorole

Although strawberry jello is probably one of my favorite desserts, knowing that most gelatin is made from the leftovers of boiled animal skin, tendons and ligaments kind of makes my stomach wobble instead.  But if you can get past the way its made, then hopefully you won’t have to encounter the number two spot. According to the General Foods Kitchens, “Jell-O Gelatin fist grandly shimmered its way into American dining rooms in 1897.” It’s 2022 now, so that’s 125 years ago! In 1962, the gelatin giants created a holiday dish meant to wow  guests and be the centerpiece of your holiday  feast.  Effortlessly floating in a wreath of quivering lime green jello was a mix of other green companions such as celery, olives, and cucumber, as well as onion and pimento cheese (for some color of course) and the star of the dish— a canof drained tuna.  WOW.  But if that wasn’t enough to turn you green as the grinch, then you can try a liver pate (if you are having a hard time envisioninng the consistency of pate, it is quite similar to canned cat food) But don’t worry, the pate isn’t the best parte, it’s also polka dotted with cream cheese balls. . .all suspended in a meaty gelatin mold.  I mean nothing says let the festivities begin like a quivering tower of liver and cheese balls.

1: Sardine Candy Canes

Okay, everyone, you ready for the number one craziest holiday candy concoction on my list?  The top contender can be found on the online store, Arthur McPhee. This store is meant to not only test the tastebuds, but also your guts.  Their candy canes flavors are a little bit. . .mmmm. . . untraditional: from kale to ketchup, Caesar Salad to Sardines, The Arthur McPhee Store has quite the queasy collection.. If you could make you own gross flavor of candycane, what would it be?

Well, my aspiring grossologists, sadly my 8 minutes is up.
